March Family Picture-The 12 Project

So let me tell you a little bout this family pic thing. The lovely Tara Whitney  is having this 12 month project in which you take a pic of your fam. and tell a little bout your lovely fam. I didn't get a chance last month but did it this month and with HaShem's help the rest of the year. I am doing more for me than anything else. It is cool to take family pics over time.

So here we are in the park. We have been taking to walking and exploring the hiking trails in our lovely local park. We have been enjoying the weather immensely. We have all been a little busy in our own ways. It's almost as if the sun has energized us all into busy activity. It's funny because at one point or another you'll catch us sort of sun bathing. It will seem like we are staring at something in the sky, but no, we are taking in the sun.

Artistic Mother's Group.....Come join the fun!

So girlie's, Trudy from Artistic Creations is beginning a group with the book The Artistic Mother by Shona Cole. First I want you to know I don't own the book, YET!! LOL But I looked it over on amazon and it looks fantastic!!!! As a momma I am very aware of the challenges at times in taking the time to express my art. So I will be joining these fantastic group of momma's in a 12 week journey. I think Trudy says it well,

"I have found just the right inspiration to help me build the habit of doing something artistic each day. Shona Cole of An Artful Life, a young mother of five, ages 1 to 10, has found a way to integrate motherhood and art instead of waiting till the children are older to focus on her artistic side. She has written a practical guide for fitting creativity into your life, The Artistic Mother. In her book, Shona inspires us to continue on this wonderful journey of artistic momy-hood. She has tips for making time in your life. In her book is a 12-week art course with step-by-step instructions for more than 12 finished art pieces celebrating motherhood and family; a weekly actions plan to help you make the best use of your time; tips on creating time and space in your life for your art, and a beginner's guide to each of three much-loved arts: poetry, photography and mixed media.
I am joining with other like-minded artistic mommies to form our own Artistic Mother's group. We will be going through the course at the same time and blogging about it on our blogs. At the end of each week, probably on Saturday, we will share our progress and share the links of all who are participating so that everyone can click around and visit each of the blogs. Our launch date is Saturday, March 6th.  "

So head over to Trudy's to sign up
I know I am going to have a blast! And the sharing with like minded momma's is going to be cool. Hope to see you there!

Creating......

So I have been creating lately. It was a great boost having one of my baby sisters around I 'll post on that soon. I have made some pieces and pendants that I love. Although I do have a terrible grip. Let me share my pics first then I'll spill.

Okay so here are the pendants. I absolutely love them and plan to make many more. The fact that I can wear how ever many I want agrees with me. lol.The 2 blue ones on the left in the last row are super personal. The first one has my baby's name and mine with the words to our favorite song. And also on the back. The second blue one has my buddies names (my kiddos) and on the back it says my treasures.
The first one Family has written on the back love binds us together so does crazy. Hope, back says confident expectation. Wild, back says Mind. I believe, back says I choose.

This second picture is a collage piece I have been working on for a while. The light in my art space is crappy right now. So sorry not the best. But it is definitely how I feel. The words in heart shape are HOPE.

This last one I made with my sister, she worked on her piece I worked on mine. I so dig the colors and I love black. I need to figure out how I am going to hand these they are definitely special.

Okay no to my gripe. I have started my year with the idea that I was going to do more visual art journaling. Good right? No, first it turned out to be alot because of my crappy mood. Then I do morning pages as per recommended in The Artist Way. So I was doing my morning pages in a spiral notebook happily because I can fill 3 pages. I decided that I would put my morning pages in my visual journal. Not the greatest idea because you need space to write right? Well then I discovered online something called a Lifejournal for writer's  and I am in love. I can type faster than I can write, like I said in love. I have the demo right now and can't imagine doing my morning typing with out it. It has so many features it will blow your mind. But what has happened I want to use my visual art journal but can't seem to figure out how? I hate having everything everywhere. I love the typing but am also afraid. So there is my dilema. I don't know what to do. What has become important is my writing. So getting as much down as I can is super important. I am such a paper and pen girl, really I am. But there is a part of me that is a bit techie. I love my secretary (blackberry) but secretly I miss writing stuff down. Uhhh, this has been an ongoing internal subject for me. At times I am contently oblivious and at others it's a crisis!!! Consistency is not my bf. But fine I shall see what I will do. If you have any suggestions I am OPEN. really.

Anyway look forward to your comments. I hope. suggestions anyone?????

Blogcamp pics

Here is 8-13, I am really enjoying consciously taking pictures each day. What is such a blessing to me is the stopping to notice, to see truly the world around me. The different way HaShem has granted me the privilege to SEE. And also to take things and look for their possibilities as in the picture with the necklace. Can you see a story??? Perspective is powerful and often of our making. Thus it requires us to be mindful...... I hope you are enjoying seeing through my eyes the possibilities of the world my family and I live in. Akeret HaBayit in Training is also sharing what she sees and it's possibilities. If you'd like to post a comment with a picture of your world and it's possibilities feel free!!!!

Okay, even with my modest desires there are a couple of things I llllooooovvvveeee......shoes(though it's been years since I indulge-especially high heels :0 and then......purses/bags all kinds but especially big ;0 and then bulky jewelry...... I might have as well been born on an island or been a gypsy(as far as wardrobe) But I suppose having that Rican blood/Indian mix with Spaniard..... wooweee
Trust me we don't fall far from our trees.... Anyhoo finding these beads was sweet!!
At least discovering how deep my island blood runs at this age is surprising!!!!

Le Petite Artist Club

So today I went for the first time to a little gathering of sorts in Reading Pa. At Le Petite Artist Shop, can I just say that the place is soooo cooooollllll. I want to stop by on opening hours just to browse and buy. where some cool ladies get together and alter books and exchange atc's. The drive there was funny as when you drive anywhere for the first time. But when I arrived was warmly welcomed by the ladies. And Lady Karen who was the person I contacted about the altering books, I discover is a fellow New Yorker. So that was super cool. Okay so the reason this was so big for me is because I have never been to anything at all. I mean nothing of this artsy sort. Here I thought that because I was new at this my cards were we off or something. I know , no respect for what I do!!!! LOL I am working on that. But It was great to see that my cards were like regular atc's and as I suspected anyway more experience gives you greater expression. SOOOOO, I am so glad I ventured out to meet these wonderful ladies. And take my, dare I say art out there. I hope to continue learning and expanding.

On another note I have often pondered lately about art and it's different forms. I have discovered within myself a long history with the art of writing and words. I mean I love the power words have and the way they affect us should command are respect. And to be one who uses words as art is a great responsibility to both enjoy and be mindful.

What form of Art have you had in you all along?

My Second Artist Date

So here is my account of my 2nd artist date. I was much more eager and ready, to prove to myself that I can do this. I can!! So I went to the same park sort of like a do over, who said you can't, right!! And so I walked the path first and hid under trees that sent the invitations, you know those trees that say "I have a secret place, will you come and see". And in there I observed the wind sway the leaves like a dance and then rest for a moment. I continued to walk and noticed the sun peeking at me through the trees and there I eyed a bench and laid my bookbag down. Then I decided to commemorate this moment, the "I am determined to be renewed and refreshed". I wrote on a piece of paper the word renewal, then grabbed a leaf and sent the word renewal into the pond. An at first just like my self it refused to float on and away. Why do we hold so tightly to control, why are we afraid to FLOW. That is my favorite word lately, FLOW isn't it great? Anyhoo, I sent it off and encouraged the leaf to release and go on. And it wasn't that there wouldn't be obstacles or threats of sinking, but that is part of the process. There were ducks and geese in the pond and a little crowd of them passed right by the floating leaf. But the leaf went on with it's message of renewal. And there is the pic of the rock, you see the ground in my life is where my hope began. He is the LOVER of my soul, our relationship has grown and changed over the years. My perceptions of him altered each time. And although complicated, complex and not a "know it all" experience I wouldn't change it. So as I go through this process which is affecting every part of my faith and life the ground remains the same. He is My ROCK!!!! Adonai Tzuri!!!! And so the reason of my rock picture. Then a proud pic of me feeling accomplished. And as I walked back there was " The Great Blue Heron" and he did not mind one bit that he was being watched by like 6 people. It didn't matter that there was a crowd he was there on business, for nourishment. Like me he needed to do what he was there to do and it didn't matter that others were watching. Encouraging I know!!!! And the last cube is the path behind me which was very near the pic of the path I took in my last date that was in front of me. I know behind and in front, sounds confusing!!!! LOL But no my first artist date caught the path in front of me that I needed to face. And now having faced it that path is behind my back. There are other journeys and paths.
